About Clive Alliance Clive Alliance starts, builds, and invests in technical products that shape the future. We’re a remote-first innovation studio driven by engineering excellence and user-centricity. From payments infrastructure to AI-driven platforms, we’re building the next generation of digital tools that solve real problems at scale.
We’re looking for a Backend-Focused Fullstack Engineer with strong TypeScript experience to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building clean, scalable backend systems—but isn’t afraid to touch the frontend when needed.
What You’ll Do
Write TypeScript backend services using Node.js (Express or Fastify)
Design REST APIs with schema validation, error handling, and clean documentation
Build and maintain test-driven codebases—unit, integration, and contract tests included
Manage CI/CD pipelines with Docker and Google Cloud Build
Model relational data with TypeORM and Postgres or MySQL
Optimize backend performance: reduce latency, avoid O(n²) patterns, and write efficient code
Monitor systems, own incidents, and write postmortems that drive improvement
Occasionally support frontend work in Next.js (responsive UI, state management, Figma handoff)
Clean up technical debt, write clear documentation, and leave things better than you found them
What We’re Looking For
3–5 years of experience building and shipping backend systems in production
Strong fluency in TypeScript, Node.js, Docker, and Git workflows
Comfortable working with CI/CD, cloud infra (GCP preferred), and modern development pipelines
Proactive mindset—tests aren’t a chore, they’re a habit
Performance-oriented thinking: you write code that scales and avoids bottlenecks
Great written communication and async team collaboration skills
Ownership mentality—you solve problems even if they’re “not your code”
✨ Bonus Points
Experience with payment systems, APIs, or banking infrastructure
Familiarity with OpenAI or Claude APIs, job queues, or distributed systems
Contributions to open source or developer communities
Experience mentoring team members or improving engineering workflows
What Success Looks Like
Reliable, test-covered services running in production
Clear, scalable APIs with strong documentation
Reduced backend latency and performance wins tracked in metrics
A well-maintained codebase that’s better because you were here
